Singlet-assisted diffusion-NMR (SAD-NMR): extending the scope of diffusion tensor imaging via singlet NMR

چکیده
In this study, long-lived nuclear singlet order methods are combined with diffusion tensor imaging the purpose of characterizing full molecules diffusing freely in large pores up to a millimeter size. Such sizes out reach conventional because limitations imposed by relaxation decay constant longitudinal magnetization. A singlet-assisted methodology able circumvent such is discussed, and new possibilities that it offers demonstrated through simulation experiments on plastic phantoms containing cylindrical channels 1 mm diameter.

Hyperpolarized singlet NMR on a small animal imaging system.
Nuclear spin hyperpolarization makes a significant advance toward overcoming the sensitivity limitations of in vivo magnetic resonance imaging, particularly in the case of low-gamma nuclei. The sensitivity may be improved further by storing the hyperpolarization in slowly relaxing singlet populations of spin-1/2 pairs. Here, we report hyperpolarized (13) C spin order transferred into and retrie...
متن کاملAccessing the long-time limit in diffusion NMR: The case of singlet assisted diffusive diffraction q-space.
The latest developments in the field of long-lived spin states are merged with pulsed-field gradient techniques to extend the diffusion time beyond what is currently achievable in standard q-space diffusive-diffraction studies. The method uses nearly-equivalent spin-1/2 pairs that let diffusion times of the order of many minutes to be measured allowing access to the long-time limit in cavities ...

MR offers unique tools for measuring molecular diffusion. This review focuses on the use of diffusion-weighted MR spectroscopy (DW-MRS) to non-invasively quantitate the translational displacement of endogenous metabolites in intact mammalian tissues. Most of the metabolites that are observed by in vivo MRS are predominantly located in the intracellular compartment. DW-MRS is of fundamental inte...
متن کاملRotational diffusion tensor of nucleic acids from 13C NMR relaxation.
Rotational diffusion properties have been derived for the DNA dodecamer d(CGCGAATTCGCG)(2) from (13)C R(1rho) and R(1) measurements on the C(1'), C(3'), and C(4') carbons in samples uniformly enriched in (13)C. The narrow range of C-H bond vector orientations relative to the DNA axis make the analysis particularly sensitive to small structural deviations. As a result, the R(1rho)/R(1) ratios ar...
متن کاملSolid-State Diffusion and NMR
Diffusion in solids, which requires the presence of crystal defects or disorder, has both microscopic and macroscopic aspects. Nuclear magnetic resonance techniques provide access to microscopic diffusion parameters like atomic jump rates and activation energies as well as to the tracer diffusion coefficient for macroscopic transport. Microscopic NMR methods include spin-lattice relaxation spec...
